I make no excuses for it, I have a huge builders crush on Ms. Ana White! If I could meet her in person one day, I'd be over the moon excited about it. She keeps coming close - her latest appearance will be at a Home Depot in the Seattle area and although that's probably as close as she'll ever come to my neck of the woods, it's still not close enough for me to justify driving the 6 hours to.
Anyway, back to the business at hand, I just wanted to post my latest finished project on my own blog after posting it at Ana-White.com! I'll add pictures to the portfolio section of my website as well. It's sometimes a pain to post this stuff in all the places I do, but I guess it's all worth it in the end, right!?
From page 37 of Ana's book, The Handbuilt Home:
I snapped a picture straight from her book
and now my smaller, greener version:
The shelf was built for a client of mine who's brother sadly passed away after losing a battle to brain cancer, the same type of cancer my own husband has been afflicted with. Allen's brother Loran battled for 11 years with this cancer and Allen himself has brain cancer as well. It's a scary, tragic, awful disease and I took great honor in building this memorial shelf for Allen and his brother.
I will hopefully be posting a picture of the small urn with the shelf soon, but until then; Love your family to the best of your ability, tell them often because you never know when their, or your time is up.
