R.I.P Ryobi

Well, my beloved Ryobi impact driver died today.  I've had it for many years and used it nearly every day.  I suppose that it had a long and wonderful life with all things considered, but it's still sad.  I still reach for it even though I know it's gone.

Next Friday (maybe before) I will go and look for a replacement, but one does need time to grieve. ;-)

Just kidding, I can't wait to get a new drill/driver combo!! I've had Ryobi for many years and they are good for the occasional use, but honestly, I need more professional grade tools since they are used most everyday - especially my impact driver!  When I use my Kreg pocket hole jig, I use my impact driver to drive those wonderful little screws into the project of the moment

Here's what I'm upgrading to...

RIGID 18v combo drill/driver kit
I'm very excited for these babies to be coming home with me!  The funny thing is that RIGID is made by the same folks that make Ryobi.  RIGID is considered the professional grade product.  I currently own several RIGID and Ryobi tools and I can tell you this.... RIGID IS higher grade!  The best part about them is that RIGID tools has a lifetime warranty on ALL their power tools.  Need batteries cause the ones you have aren't working? Free. Need parts? Free. Need service? Free!!  I'm of course paraphrasing so check out the warranty info for yourself before you buy, but honestly, it's soooo worth it!

So, until I can pick these up next week, I'm down to using the drill.  Not the best of scenarios, but I'll make it work for a week until I can get my new friends!

Have a wonderful weekend and go build something!!!!!

Very good to know about the Rigid tools' warranty!! The battery part alone would be worth it. I'm trying not to worry about the lifespan of the batteries for my Dewalt drill. The battery replacement is as much as the drill! So exciting to get new tools :)

I wouldn't run out and replace your Dewalt or anythign cause they are GREAT tools, but if it ever dies... ;-) Batteries were a huge concern for me. We had the old Ni-Cad ones for most of my Ryobi tools, but when they all died on me and I happened to have written a scathing review about a ryobi 1/4 sheet sander that was really a lemmon. After communication with a rep from Ryobi/RIGID, I received a replacement battery in the Lithium line, a RIGID 1/4 sheet sander and a starter pack of sandpaper. The RIGID sander was a MUCH better sander and I've since purchased a random orbital sander that I love even more!! Overall, I great experience that keeps me coming back to that brand!

Wow Tracy! Your new drill machine is really cool! This looks like a drill robot. I want a new one like this for me. Please write me about the procedure of getting this. Thanks and update me concerning this issue!
